Carol has always wanted to learn to play the piano. She has a great start and has learned 3 scales and arpeggios and a bunch of fun songs! She is always so happy to come to her lesson and learn more!

Upcoming Events: Keyboard Merits Friday, May 10th 2:30-6:45 at church across from HS Invitations for the recital will be available there. Bring all music you are performing; including memorized pieces and technic. The technic is 20% of your grade. Each piece is graded on note accuracy, rhythm, tempo, dynamics, phrasing, tonal balance, touches, pedal, continuity and memorization. If you don’t understand any of these terms, please ask me.
Recital Friday May 24 7:00 p.m. at Barbee Presbyterian Church Dress for girls is skirt with top or a dress, for boys it is button shirt or polo with slacks or you may wear a shirt and tie if desired.

Late fee starting now will be $15 a week starting on the 11th of the month.
The Spring Special on Google is offering piano lessons at $50 a month if started by May 30th. After that date, new and returning students will have increased tuition fees but the present students will be grandfathered in at the rate you now have.

Rose finishes Prelude Power Pages
Rose, age 7, has been taking piano lessons from Dorothy’s Piano Studio for one year. This is her second workbook to complete!
Georgia’s composition
“Piano Explorer” magazine offers an opportunity for young composers to write a piece and enter a contest for the most outstanding composition. This year’s theme was “about your pet, the one you have now, the one you wish you had, or the one you used to have.” Georgia composed “The Bouncing Beta”, a piece about her pet fish.

Genevieve is shown holding her $75 check for writing the best essay among piano students in the state of Missouri. Her essay theme was “Music – A Magic Key”.

Recital piece memorized!
Cole was the first student to completely memorize his recital piece he chose at piano lessons and show me how well he can perform it. He is holding the music but he doesn’t need to look at it anymore. Great job, Cole. Way not to procrastinate about getting the job done. Now he’s working on the rest of his pieces to play for the Keyboard Merit judge!!

Congrats to Patty – practicing every day!
Patty has practiced every single days for 1300 days! Students are asked to practice one minute for each year of their age six days a week. This means a five year old would practice five minutes and a ten year old would practice ten minutes at a time. I hope that they would choose to practice at least one more time in a day because without practice, there is little progress. In order to be featured in the magazine “Piano Explorer” a student must do at least the minimum every day for 100 days in a row.
